Man-o-man, it just don't stop and it just don't quit! The new Sam Irl on Freerange has been giving me all the dreamy, lovey winds of a vibe induced summer to settle into lately. Was first enticed by his works on Secret Crunch's Secret Bunch Vol. 2 alongside a fave of mine Soul of Hex as well as tasty jam meisters Moff & Tarkin. Secret Crunch label boss Roman Rauch just dropped a full length on there that had JP all blissed out on duality with the tune "Don't Know." Kon's second on his Kontemporary label has dropped with a retouch of a rarish Sylvester tune that is shooting up the charts currently. It's secured on this end though for some affirmation times when the appropriate moment presents itself.
PBVinyl has put up a preorder of a great new imprint named Cult Edits and it's second installment is furthering on off kilter and oddball culture infusers for your sets. Not to miss action on that, peep it here and that's all the doctor has for your butt shufflin' pleasures this week. Peace!
This week the town we are based, Louisville, lost a soul. One that was full of potential, talent, intelligence and love. Known artistically as Vancington, he effortless integrated with the small scene here and brought with him joy, passion and an intuitive skill behind the turntables. He'll be missed. We all hope he has found peace.
I managed to grab to deliciousness this week, Traffic Control tryna tempt us with the wonk, on their Permanent Press (AKA Taylor Bense & John Camp) - You And The Club! Since there's only 200 pressed of these, I would suggest grabbing one fast, before the Discogs bandits start with their fantasy valuations! I also managed to pick up a really great 45 by way of Osunlade Same, Same. a Record Store Day release with some fantastic loose, fusion vibes.
I was almost caught slippin' y'all, the new(ish) compilation from Hunee, Hunchin' All Night is getting a reup but will be minus one of the original three discs. Luckily, All Day Records had me covered on an original issue they still had laying around, cause the selections on this one are just phenomenal. Grab that one off Rush Hour's bandcamp. Speaking of proper selections, HE VALENCIA recently recorded a mix for Anabasine's Anglerfish radio show on n10.as, and lordy does the man have tracks. His mix clocks in at a little under 45 minutes, but he goes right to work, venturing through genres and decades with ease, ending with a classic one from the hot spitta himself. Those Ricky Suarez and Brian Harden tracks were my personal highlights though, that sweet deep is just too much for me to resist. Listen to the whole thing over here The midwest love just doesn't stop, as Noncompliant's Resident Advisor exchange went live earlier last week, wherein she discusses everything from midwest raves to remaining un-apologetically yourself and so much more, listen to the full conversation here. Till next week friendos!
