So, this past week ya boy got swallowed up. Work called upon my time heavy and a whirlwind of good music caused my neglect to the wonderful people reading our cosmic slew completely, just the sitch here for some of us in Derbyville, USA. My apologies.
Shall Not Fade again brought the goodies approaching three years with another project from Adryiano due out the heat of the summer. S3A's Climax EP dropped on the Quartet Series Trophy Series Bandcamp on Friday and is available in most retailers now. Blessed be to the House of Jack in which we dwell because the richness of that EP is just slathered in love for the dancers and the heads. Finally, I've come to accepting another infatuation with a contemporary record label: Quintessentials, based in the UK, dedicated to quality underground house music and unique party starters. That's all I got. Love!
Happy horseweek from Derby country! Honestly Derby week in Louisville can be pretty annoying but this year it's bringing the mighty Derrick Carter to the city! Can't wait to get in to that later! The biggest thing for me at the moment is this Armless Kid and Tour Maubourg 'Espac- EP' released on Fina's experimental outlet Finawhite. It's just so damn good, it gets me, it's been reading my texts! I also made a sorta rediscovery this week in the Attaboy remix of 'Jive' by Natural Rhythm. I came back across it via a Downtown Party Network mix (which is also dope). This shit is 18 years old and it sounds like something Better Listen or Pusic would put out today. Alright, let's do this again sometime. X
Gotta put it out on front street, I don't know hardly anything about jazz, but that's not gonna stop me from telling you all about Kamaal Williams' new album. Certainly no stranger to collaboration, Kamaal, also known as Henry Wu, decided to go all in and record an album with a full band, under his birth name. The Return is set to be released toward the end of this month, and will be out on his own newly minted Black Focus Records. Get on them previews, the LP is already sold out! Boogieing on, E.Live is putting out a 7 inch single with two tracks off of his album a few years back on his Elivity imprint, and it's pure, unfiltered funk. Big ups to Star Creature for consistently pressing that disco heat, which will be available next Monday right here. That'll just about do it for me y'all, Derrick gah damn Carter is playing in town tonight so I gotta get my dancin' shoes ready. Till next week friendos.
