My my my!! September got hot on the back end! Sooo the not so secret first release of Secret Listen series (the joining forces of Secret Reels and Better Listen Records) is around the corner and they dropped the first premiere on the infamous Gazzx696's YouTube channel, Chocky's "Inner Disco" this week. Cody Currie will be releasing an EP entitled Peach Fuzz on Secret Reels just a week after that likely killer collab is available also.
Adesse Versions has got a pair of stompers he's serving as part of the limited run edit series on Bradley Zero's label Rhythm Section International. Jagger and Run Hot are remarkable tunes from the snippets provided here. Get a feel for the induction the fundamentals laid out by Jr. Stable on the first contribution. No repress ever so don't sleep.
Looks like Banoffee Pies Records is coming up on their sixth installment in their Limited Series along with the first one getting a repress due to, you guessed it, Discogs sharks. Quite the sucker for an alluring soulful vein no matter what caliber so Gallegos "Save Your Love For Me" was a no brainer. The swinging, jazz flecked, mini mood is packed with enough subtle punch to rattle your brain awake before the coffee's done brewing, get that for your well being right here.
Finally, Folamour's first full length is hitting stores in a week! The LP Umami got a Facebook Live listening party over the summer and dude just persistently puts out good shit so I'm hype af. Staying hopeful that ya boy can cop for this gem amongst others although Moonrise Hill Material's works go like hot cakes on the web.
Until next weekington y'all!
I stumbled upon Denis Sulta this week, shuffling in to that party way late. I must admit that, when watching this Boiler Room performance, my elderliness was triggered by his youthfulness at 1st, but oh my goodness, the sheer joyfulness of the set is just incredible! By the time Nein Fortiate came on I was a full, arms in the air, convert. I also got schooled, by my good friend Vins (look out for a guest mix soon!), on a couple of incredible compilations on Safe Trip, via Rush Hour. The Welcome To Paradise collections handpick and present some forgotten Italian 'Dream House'. It's so far up my street that it's passed the doorbell and climbing through the letterbox. Grab them if you can find em! Also check out an always welcome new release from Space Echo on Luv Shack - 'tongues out business!’
Another week, and even more star stuff to share and love. I've got to start my recommendations out with something crazy that I didn't even know was in the works: Metro Area's re-releasing their self titled album on 3 LPs next month y'all! I've only come to discover Darshan Jesrani & Morgan Geist's game changing productions in the last year or two, but fell in love the moment I heard Strut. There's really not much more I can say, just support the modern disco architects here or here. Continuing the throwback vibe, another exciting announcement I came across yesterday was one of X-Coast's new EP, Transformations, out on the newly minted UNDERTHESEA Records on 9/29. Although X-Coast is a relatively young producer with only two releases under his belt, he got a lot of buzz after the release of his Mango Bay EP last year. Groove La Coast is already on repeat for me, as I just love the mixture of familiar and new sounds. Step into the house that jack built and listen to that new one here. In other news, our buds over at Whiskey Disco announced a new Hotmood release coming at the end of this year, give the snippets a play (for an hour) and pre order it over here. Finally, Razor-N-Tape pinned Al-Tone for an upcoming batch of disco heat, get the jump on one of the joints off that disc here, and preorder that bad thang here, I'm personally hoping for more of a sneak peak next Friday for Bumpin' with Aaron Dae in Louisville. That's all for me, stay positive friends, till next time!
