Been meaning to give a little hype to the remix EP coming on Homage of JVXTA’s Rudy’s Disc 31 for a while now. The lovely Cinthie has two offerings, one nimble and one quick of Brawn, the tune she had pressed to dubplate way before it’s release to rinse on her most recent Boiler Room from last summer. Black Loops had their contribution premiered not too long ago and it’s pretty fantastic, peep that here. An absolute classic is getting a reissue I found out yesterday, it’s none other than Hypnotic Tango by My Mine and you can preorder it over at Phonica Records. Last but not least, been feeling Joe Cleen something serious after JP’s recommendation recently. His Jazz Cabbage label is something I’ve had my eye on but never got the gumption to try out. Most of it has been back logged on Bandcamp and his most recent EP houses this sample-y love I’ve been obsessing over. Until next week cadets!!
Hot tips time, go pre-order Paper Disco’s next release ‘New Moon’ by From Beyond. I was instantly knee swinging to the fuzzed up, once-in-a-lifetime-smirkin ‘Earthbound’. Hhhhhottt Tippssss! Tigerskin & Grambow are back, this time on Forms and Figures, delivering 3 heaters on the ‘Ape Canaveral’ EP. Pepperings of Italo run throughout tastefully, weaving betwixt fresh club-ready percussion. Finishing things of proper filthy, go check out the ‘Stein Ego EP’ by Ennio and let it’s rough edges confidently seduce your innocence.
Every set needs a warm up, a groove to get the setting right, and Editoral just happened to come through with a batch of dubbed out tracks from 4 different projects perfect for this. My favorite has gotta be Hotmood's Herbie Hancock rework, but there's plenty of flavors on here. DJ Koze's summer anthem, Pick Up, got flipped by Yam Who, who added some tasteful changes to his rework, most importantly letting Melba Moore's vocals breath a little more, check that one out here. I made the mistake of sleeping on the new PNP release out earlier this year, but lord is it hot. If you're not tired of the plethora of millennials digging for lesser known disco samples to 'house up' these days, you'll love this one, with the highlight for me being the Anderson .Paak flip from Fede Lng, which you can peep here. That'll do me, till next week y'all!
