Jun Kamoda is one of the many dedicated and versatile producers in Japan that have been making waves across the dance music world in the past few years. Although he’s been recording and releasing music for over 20 years, the past two years have been especially busy for him, seeing EPs released from the likes of New York based, Mister Saturday Night Records, Bristol based, Black Acre and Mall Grab’s Steel City Dance Discs label, as well as a few compilation contributions with Dirt Crew Recordings. In addition to all of the productions he’s done solo, he’s been involved with and fronted the groups, Baleine 3000 and (((sssurrounddd))).
Since we last spoke he's only gotten busier, he became a father, released another EP for Black Acre, a collaborative EP with Luksek, started his own dub plate label and played many live or DJ shows. Now, after three years of work, he is ready to release his self titled album this Friday. In support of this, Jun was kind enough to record a mix for us, showcasing his eclectic tastes and wide range of influences, from hip-hop, to deep house, to afrobeat. You can pre-order his album here, as well as get to know Jun and enjoy the mix, below.
