With a couple parties approaching this spring and summer I’m getting antsy trying to decide upon what styles are going to work effectively. Almost anything Robsoul is sure to get the floor working like this one from Mr. Phil Weeks, plenty of steady groove to maintain with a little vocal teasing for funsies and variety. Uncovered a grab bag of some goodies from Let’s Play House’s White imprint recently too that’s finding their way into my sets assuredly too, peep them here if you like. Rounding it out with some space emotions, that new Me Me Me from Christophe is right up my galaxy. Mixmag premiered the Johnny Aux remix of Rok the Hall a week ago and ooo it’s so yummy. Definitely in a shopping cart of mine being lusted after until I sacrifice some sort of silly necessity in the coming days. One last one because I’m in a giving mood, classic vibes on that new Royal Oak from Look Like and their tune “Do You Love.” Alright, bye, for real this time.
Is it annoying to be late to the party on things? For sure! However when it’s music this good, you really have to let go of your foolishness, so that’s what we’re gonna do as we jump about to ‘Process’ by Pazuzu on Beelzedubs 1. DJ Fiskars is back with a second installment of #Cuts! The 2 tracks are strictly for strangelings, clashing tie-dye guitars with tuff monsynth lines with a mind melting affect! The fourth release on LA's Pleasure of Love 'Pleasure of Edits' series features west coast talent Air Zaïre on editorial duties. ‘South of Sunset’ will be a constant grab as the summer comes out to play. Speaking of warmer seasons, Mark E is gifting everyone a legacy style edit on his Chaka retouch found on the new ‘E Versions #1’ Right, I’m warmed up, ready to dive in and get loose!
We can probably all agree that Kerri Chandler is a national treasure, and from all that I've heard, his dad was as well. In honor of him, Kerri explored a box of records he left behind that he'd never opened before. The love you hear in his voice in between records, in his stories, plus that Lonnie Liston Smith joint? Simply breathtaking. Moving on to some more inspiring and forward thinking producers, it's the first release from the newly minted Parallel Minds label out of Toronto. Label bosses Ciel, Daniel 58 and Yohei S. make appearances on the 001, as well as fellow Toronto native Raf Reza's new alias, each offering a myriad of hi-tek sounds for most any dancer. Personally, I'm really excited about Daniel 58's track, 'Space Bubble', for it's chords and wonderful balance between relaxing and tense moods. I'm out, till next time!
