Do you ever find yourself ‘coming around’ to music that just took time to decide you wanted to play it, have it, or appreciate it? Well that definitely happened with this release from Alleged Witches on Media Fury’s vinyl only imprint. Literal witchiness can undoubtedly be expected, if you’re not careful it’ll cast a spell on you too. A while back I mentioned a record from the label Vakum that featured a tune from Steve Murphy. They’ve released some choice house and techno with tact since 2014; no digital, just some physical beats business. The third various artists compilation on the label, Vakum 005 delivers just that. From silly artist names like jerky bumps from college dorm room pests to an appearance from an alias of DJ Seinfeld, hard hitting quality awaits you. Going to finish out with a great recommend JP threw my way a little bit ago. The elusive Demi Riquísimo has put out two records of great party packs this year; it’s funky, it’s driving, it hybridizes some great characteristics of genres we love, how could you not? Take Certified for a whirl off his new EP ‘Mysterious’ and I’ll give y’all a shout the in next planetary transmission. Peace!
Big fan of the lush silliness that that Jive Talk put out, go grab ‘It Always Have Been’ on their new label Cheeks and catch that feeling. How bout these nuts huh? Talking about ‘Macadamia’ by M.ono a super-lovely slice of etheral stabby house perfect for getting into a huddle to! For a nice little example of the groove lying in negative space, head over to the bandcamp for Duke Hugh’s ‘Broken Samba’ and jolt to them snares! Looking for a great freebie? Cesar Del Rio & Tatsu got you with this amazing remix of X - System’s ‘Hard Harmony’. Finishing things off with some B52’s allusions via Mexico’s Bufi! Always on fire with his production, ‘Pixels‘ is no exception! Grab it for your fam, keep it for your system.
LADYMONIX has another record on the way, which means it's about time to work. The Detroit via Baltimore based wearer of many hats is gearing up to release the Track 39 EP in early June, making it the second record on her own Frizner Electric label. 'Moments in Paris' is available with a pre-order, but the whole thing is perfect for the ballroom or a barely lit club, so best to get on it. Next up is Tel-Aviv based producer, Nenor, and his upcoming Sol Power release. Future Ancestor offers a creative blend of deep, African inspired, sonics, which help to showcase the vastness in his production abilities, definitely check out the snippets on that one. I'll leave ya with a throwback from the first lady of Detroit, K-Hand, and her Project 5 EP, you need this in ya life, and I need to get outta here, till next week!
